UniAbuja Orients New Students, Charges Freshmen on Discipline and Integrity
The University of Abuja (UniAbuja) has concluded its formal orientation programme for the 100-level students of the 2024/2025 academic session, providing a comprehensive roadmap for academic success and campus life.
The event, which took place yesterday, served as a strategic introduction for freshmen, covering essential topics such as academic expectations, institutional regulations, and the diverse resources available to facilitate their educational journey.
Character and Learning
Representing the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Rosemary Udeozor, underscored the institution’s dual focus on scholarship and character.
"Orientation is designed to help you understand the University’s traditions, rules, and your rights," Professor Udeozor stated. "The University is supportive, but misconduct will not be tolerated, as your success depends on both learning and character."
Institutional Support and Security
The programme featured a lineup of speakers from both the University management and national agencies, who collectively urged the students to:
Maintain Discipline: Uphold the university’s code of conduct.
Avoid Social Vices: Stay clear of cultism, drug abuse, and other negative influences.
Embrace Integrity: Prioritize ethical standards in their academic and social interactions.
The session emphasized that while the university provides a robust environment for growth, students must take individual responsibility for their conduct to ensure a successful stay in the institution.
