UNICAL VC, Prof Florence Obi Appoints 5 New Acting HODs

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Florence Obi has approved the appointments of 5 Acting Heads of Department (HODS) in the Faculty of Humanities & Social Science Education.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Florence Obi has approved the appointments of 5 Acting Heads of Department (HODS) in the Faculty of Humanities & Social Science Education.

The appointments are as follows:

Dr Benjamin Ambe, Acting head of the Department of Geography and Sustainable Development.

Dr Gladys Ukume, Acting Head of the Department of History and Christian Religious Studies.

Dr Ofem Edim Otu, Acting Head of the Department of Economics and Political Science.

Dr Rose Udonwa, Acting Head of the Department of Home Economics

Dr Federick A. Opoh Acting Head of the Department of Social Studies and Civic Education.

In a letter signed by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Florence Obi, their appointments are for two years with effect from 28th June 2024 to 27th June 2026.

The newly appointed Heads are expected to bring in their wealth of experience while discharging their official duties diligently by effectively administering their respective Departments to ensure optimal productivity.

The letter further stated that Management would not hesitate to sanction any HOD who fails to turn in student results within the given timeline, or who acts in breach of University regulations.

This is even as relevant sections of the University have been informed to accord them the necessary courtesies associated with the office.
