The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has indefinitely postponed its 24th Matriculation Ceremony, originally scheduled for Thursday, January 29, 2026 (Calabar Campus) and Friday, January 30, 2026 (Ogoja and Okuku Campuses).
The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has indefinitely postponed its 24th Matriculation Ceremony, originally scheduled for Thursday, January 29, 2026 (Calabar Campus) and Friday, January 30, 2026 (Ogoja and Okuku Campuses).
In a circular (No. 504) issued on January 26, 2026 and signed by the University Registrar, Dr. Mrs. Catherine Ndifon Osai, the institution cited the ongoing industrial unrest by the Joint Action Congress (JAC)—comprising the three non-teaching unions of the university—as the reason for the postponement.
The notice affects all staff, new students of the 2025/2026 academic session, and members of the public. The circular stated:

"The postponement is sequel to the ongoing protest by the Joint Action Congress (JAC) of the three non-teaching Unions of the University. A new date will be communicated in due course."
The university administration expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to students and families who had already made preparations. Fresh students are advised to remain calm and await further directives, noting that academic and administrative activities may be influenced by the resolution of the ongoing JAC protest.
