The University of Lagos Fire Service, (UFS), has emphasized the need for the institution’s Security Unit to imbibe a practical emergency system to respond effectively and proactively when fire incidents occur.

The University of Lagos Fire Service, (UFS), has emphasized the need for the institution’s Security Unit to imbibe a practical emergency system to respond effectively and proactively when fire incidents occur.

The Acting Head of the Service, Mr. Wasiu Oriyomi Jimoh, stated this on Monday, July 10, 2023, during an orientation and fire drill exercise which held at the Alpha Base, UNILAG, Akoka.

Mr. Jimoh accompanied by senior UFS officers, averred that the sensitization exercise was initiated to expose the units within the university community to preventive knowledge on Fire outbreak, which is critical to saving lives and protecting businesses.

According to the Fire Service Chief, “I know so well that your activities borders on securing the premises and maintaining law and order in and around the University. However, you also need to know that there are other important areas that you can help with.

Senior Fire Officer, Mr. Bankole Idris took the security personnel on several tips and highlighted multiple ways to curb fire outbreaks. He explained that the first thing to do, in the case of a fire outbreak, is to raise an alarm for everyone to exit the building, gather at a muster point, and thereafter, make a call for help to the fire service.
