With just 40 days left until the 11th Federation of African Universities' Sports (FASU) Games, University of Lagos Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, has declared that UNILAG is co-hosting to win. Speaking at the UNILAG Sports Centre on Saturday, August 10, 2024, after the "Walk for Life Exercise," Prof Ogunsola expressed confidence in Team UNILAG's ability to excel in the upcoming games.

Recalling the success of the 26th Nigerian Universities' Games (NUGA) hosted by UNILAG in 2022, where Team UNILAG finished as the 1st Runner up on the Medals Table, Prof Ogunsola urged Team UNILAG members to build on that momentum and strive for victory in the FASU Games.

The Vice-Chancellor assured the audience that the university management is prepared to ensure the success of the 11th FASU Games, co-hosted by UNILAG and Lagos State University. She charged Team UNILAG athletes to intensify their training, aiming to win as many medals and trophies as possible.

Prof Ogunsola concluded by saying, "We will host athletes from across Africa...FASU will be fun, fast, and intense. I implore you to be intense in all your sports, and I assure you to leave the fun to the university management."

UNILAG Community Embarks on "Walk for Life Exercise" Ahead of FASU Games

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) community came together on Saturday, August 10, 2024, for the "Walk for Life Exercise," a fortnightly event aimed at promoting physical fitness and awareness for the upcoming 11th Federation of African Universities' Sports (FASU) Games.

Led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Folasade Ogunsola, the participants set off from the UNILAG Sports Centre at 7:00 am, embarking on a one-hour walk through the main campus. The route took them through various parts of the university, including the Faculty of Education, Ransom Kuti way, DLI Roundabout, Professor Akin Adesola road, Tafawa Balewa Drive, UNILAG Senate House Road, Professor Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe Drive, Dan Fodio Boulevard, and finally back to the UNILAG Sports Complex.

Upon returning to the Sports Complex, participants engaged in a session of stretch exercises to cool down. The event also featured the commissioning of an 18-seater bus newly branded for the 11th FASU Games, tagged "LAGOS 2024," scheduled to take place from September 20 to 29, 2024.

The "Walk for Life Exercise" demonstrated the university's enthusiasm and readiness to host the FASU Games, which will bring together athletes from across Africa. The event promoted a sense of community and camaraderie among participants, while also highlighting UNILAG's commitment to physical fitness and academic excellence.
