The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has been named among the 25 computer-based test (CBT) centres delisted following the 2024 mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will commence the 2024 UTME on April 19, with the exam running until April 29 across accredited CBT centres nationwide.

JAMB had initially accredited 907 CBT centres for the 2024 UTME after rigorous revalidation and integrity tests, certifying 747 centres for the main exam. However, a recent update from JAMB revealed that 25 centres, including one from UNILORIN in Kwara state, have been delisted for undisclosed reasons.

CBT centres could face delisting for various reasons, although the specific violations of the delisted centres remain unclear. JAMB's head of public affairs, Fabian Benjamin, did not respond to inquiries seeking clarity on the matter.

UNILORIN's media spokesperson, Kunle Akogun, reassured the public, stating, “There is no cause for alarm. We are on top of the situation. Our three centres were listed in the updated list of accredited centres, and we have a meeting with JAMB to discuss the issue.”

In preparation for the 2024 UTME, JAMB had stipulated stringent requirements for CBT centres, including the installation of CCTV surveillance systems covering all exam areas, adequate provision of functional laptops, and adherence to specific seating arrangements and backup systems.

While the exact reasons for the delisting of the 25 centres remain undisclosed, this development underscores the importance of compliance with JAMB's accreditation criteria. As the 2024 UTME approaches, candidates are advised to verify the accreditation status of their chosen CBT centres to avoid any last-minute changes.
