The Faculty of Education at University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) emerged victorious in the Vice Chancellor’s Cup, clinching the coveted title after four days of exhilarating events. The competition, which spanned from July 1 to July 4, 2024, featured both football and athletics, with the Faculty of Education making an impressive mark in both areas.

The football final, held on July 4, saw the Faculty of Education face off against the Faculty of Arts. In a match brimming with intensity, the Faculty of Education secured a 2-0 victory, showcasing exceptional skills and teamwork that earned them the championship trophy.

In the athletics events, the competition was equally fierce. Omoyemi Ajayi from the Faculty of Arts dominated the women’s 100 and 200 metres races, securing gold in both categories. On the men’s side, Precious Oluwakayode Dina and Abdulazeez Olawale of the Faculty of Education excelled in the 100 and 200 metres races respectively, claiming top honors.

The Faculty of Education also shone in the relay events. In the women’s 4×100 metres relay, they claimed both first and second places, while the Faculty of Social Sciences took third. The men’s relay saw the Faculty of Arts clinch the first position, with the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Social Sciences taking second and third places respectively.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN, expressed his satisfaction with the event’s success and the enthusiasm it generated among students. Represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services) Prof. Suleiman Ambali, the Vice Chancellor praised the dedication, sportsmanship, and remarkable performances of all participants.
