UNIUYO: Akwa Ibom State Governor Eno Returns to Complete PhD Programme at Varsity
The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has returned to the University of Uyo to complete his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme.
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has made a notable return to the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) to resume and complete his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme, which he had discontinued during the run-up to the 2023 elections.

Governor Eno, speaking at the combined 26th, 27th, and 28th convocations of the institution held in December last year, expressed regret over postponing his academic pursuits for political obligations, affirming his commitment to return to academia upon fulfilling his governorship ambition.
Acknowledging the support and understanding of his department and faculty lecturers, as well as the UNIUYO community, Governor Eno conveyed his gratitude for the opportunity to obtain his first degree and master’s degrees, with his PhD now nearing completion. He pledged to uphold the values and ethos of the institution, promising to serve as a distinguished ambassador through the policies and programs of the state under his leadership.

Governor Eno further assured the public of his administration's unwavering commitment to educational development in Akwa Ibom State. He announced plans to implement annual bursary payments to Akwa Ibom students and other educational support schemes as needed, demonstrating his administration's dedication to fostering academic excellence and providing opportunities for the youth to thrive.
