UNIUYO Communication Arts Graduates Celebrate Thanksgiving at GAMI

The graduating class of 2024 from the University of Uyo's Faculty of Communication and Media Studies celebrated their graduation with a Thanksgiving service at God's Ambassadors Outreach Missions International (GAMI) on Sunday, July 28, 2024.

Miss Gift Akpabio, a spokesperson for the graduates, addressed the congregation, reflecting on the challenges they faced, including delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the ASUU strike, which extended their studies to five years. She expressed gratitude to God for sustaining them through these difficulties and acknowledged their mentors, particularly Professor Ashong Ashong. Akpabio stated, "Despite trials and temptations in the course of our study, we have graduated finally with none of us missing. We came to thank God Almighty who has done this and to appreciate lecturers for being good foster parents to all of us."

Rev. Mrs. Angela Ashong, Under-shepherd of GAMI, responded with words of encouragement for the graduates. She urged them to maintain humility in their future endeavors and expressed gratitude for the honor shown to her husband, Professor Ashong C. Ashong. Mrs. Ashong also reminded the graduates to show appreciation to their parents and everyone who supported them during their studies.

In his blessing, Professor Ashong Ashong prayed for the graduates' future success and encouraged them to serve God and their communities with humility.
