A Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry, College of Health Sciences, University of Abuja, and Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr. Muftau Mohammed, has been selected for the 2026/2027 Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health programme at the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI), Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.

The fellowship is a globally competitive leadership and research programme that brings together multidisciplinary experts working at the intersection of neuroscience, psychiatry, behavioural neurology, and global health equity. It focuses on advancing brain health research and improving strategies for dementia prevention and care across diverse populations.

According to the announcement, Dr. Mohammed was selected by the fellowship’s Governing Board after a rigorous international selection process that attracted applicants from around the world. His inclusion places him among a cohort of global professionals committed to addressing inequalities in brain health outcomes through research, policy innovation, and collaborative practice.

Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, congratulated Dr. Mohammed on behalf of the university management, describing the achievement as a reflection of academic excellence and global relevance.
