The student loan scheme is a flagship initiative of President Bola Tinubu, who, shortly after his inauguration, signed the Access to Higher Education Act. This act established a legal framework for providing loans to low-income Nigerians to assist with tertiary education fees.

The receipt of this funding underscores the ongoing efforts of the Federal Government to support education and improve access for students across the nation.
