The University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, has charged its academic staff to continue pushing the boundaries of knowledge in their respective fields, emphasizing that their research has the potential to transform lives, shape policies, and inspire new generations.

The call was made by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Emeritus Professor Emmanuel Nwanze, during the institution’s maiden inaugural lecture held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

In an interview with UNIDEL Media after the event, Professor Nwanze reminded lecturers never to underestimate the influence of their work, noting that they are not only imparting knowledge but also mentoring the next generation of leaders and change-makers.

Highlighting the significance of the inaugural lecture to the growth of the university, he encouraged collaboration among staff and urged them to seek opportunities to partner with colleagues across disciplines, institutions, and industries. He further advised lecturers to enhance their research potential by sharing knowledge with the community, policymakers, and industry leaders.

Professor Nwanze also commended the inaugural lecturer, Professor Emmanuel Osabohien, for delivering an insightful presentation titled “The Material World and Its Knowabilities: The Perspective of an Industrial Chemist.” He charged other academic staff to remain committed to academic excellence and integrity, uphold the highest standards of research ethics, and continually strive to make a positive impact on society.
