University of Ibadan Empowers Staff with Digital Skills: A Call for Transformation

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Oyebode Adebowale, mni, fspsp, FAS, has encouraged participants at a recent five-day workshop to leverage their newly acquired digital skills to spearhead transformation within the institution. In a closing address delivered by the Director of Academic Planning, Professor A. E. Ayodele, he emphasized the importance of disseminating the training to colleagues throughout the university.
Professor Adebowale urged participants to maximize their potential and enhance the university's online presence through effective use of their digital knowledge. He expressed gratitude to the workshop facilitators and expressed the university's commitment to organizing more training sessions of this nature.
An Internal Assessor of the workshop, Professor O. E. Olubusoye, confirmed that the workshop successfully imparted essential knowledge to the attendees. He added that the university would monitor the participants to ensure the effective application of their new skills. "This training is timely as the university must embrace a global digital transformation and leverage data extensively," he stated.
Feedback from participants highlighted the workshop's significant impact on their professional development. Mr. O. A. Okeowo, representing non-teaching staff, remarked on the benefits gained, particularly in enhancing their understanding of ICT. Teaching staff member Mrs. Temitope A. Ajamu described the workshop as enriching, noting the improvement in their data analysis skills and praising the facilitators for their patience and expertise.
Mr. Olaleye Adegbenro, representing the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), which facilitated the training, explained that DBI, established in 2006 by the Nigerian Communication Commission, aims to bridge the technology gap between Nigeria and the global community. He assured participants that the carefully selected topics would aid in their daily professional activities as part of the institute's Advanced Digital Empowerment Programmes for Tertiary Institutions (ADEPTI).
At the conclusion of the workshop, certificates of participation were awarded to all attendees, marking the beginning of a new era of digital empowerment at the University of Ibadan.
