The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan (UI), Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, fspsp, has described the institution as a beacon of hope and excellence, noting its commitment to integrity, character, learning, and the holistic development of students.

He made this statement while receiving a courtesy visit from a team of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Headquarters, Abuja, led by the Deputy Director of Mobilization, Dr. Abraham Oludolapo Ayodeji.
Professor Adebowale acknowledged the commendation from Dr. Ayodeji, highlighting UI’s adherence to best practices and its dedication to sustaining a legacy of excellence as Nigeria’s first and foremost university. He further emphasized the NYSC’s role in fostering national integration by bringing together different tribes, cultures, and communities across the country.
The Vice-Chancellor noted the challenges posed by national insecurity, which have occasionally led to students requesting redeployment during NYSC service. Nevertheless, he praised the Corps for continuing to promote social integration and national unity despite these difficulties.

Professor Adebowale also expressed pride that Dr. Ayodeji, an alumnus of UI, serves as a distinguished ambassador of the university at NYSC, delivering professional and impactful services.
Earlier, the Dean of Students, Professor Ademola Lewis, explained that the NYSC team’s visit was part of a sensitization programme for final-year students, providing them with guidance on mobilization procedures and an opportunity to ask questions directly to NYSC officials.
Dr. Ayodeji commended UI’s reputation for smooth and efficient mobilization processes, noting the university’s consistent cooperation with NYSC, including granting approvals for staff to attend workshops and seminars that enhance institutional efficiency.

The NYSC delegation included Mr. S. A. Jinadu, representative of the State Coordinator; Mrs. Izuegbu Ada Peace, Head of ICT, Oyo State; and Mrs. F. O. Adewale, State Certificate Officer.
