University of Ibadan Launches TETFund Centre for Diaspora Studies

The University of Ibadan (UI) has inaugurated the management board for the TETFund Centre of Excellence for Diaspora Studies. The inauguration was conducted by Professor Peter Olapegba, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, on behalf of Vice-Chancellor Professor Kayode O. Adebowale.

The centre was established following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UI and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) in 2023. Professor Olapegba stated that the board would oversee policy approval and implementation and provide activity reports to the Vice-Chancellor.

NIDCOM representatives on the board include Hon. Abdulrahman Terab and Mr. Abdur-Rahman Balogun. Other board members represent various UI faculties and departments. Professor Oluyemisi Bamgbose, Chairman of the Board, pledged to elevate the Centre to international prominence in Diaspora Studies.
