University of Ilorin Inducts 35 New Veterinary Graduates

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Ilorin recently held its 7th Oath Taking/Induction ceremony for 35 new veterinary graduates.

The event was organized in conjunction with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria and took place at the University Auditorium on October 6, 2025.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Bala Mohammed, CEO of Blueblood, delivered a lecture on "One Health, One World; the roles of Veterinarians in global well-being." He provided valuable insights on One Health and its intricacies, as well as offering advice on how young graduates can carve a niche for themselves in the public health space.

The President of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), Dr. Moses Arokoyo, welcomed the new graduates and congratulated them on their successful completion of their program. He emphasized the importance of mentorship, good behavior, and character, urging the graduands to seek support from NVMA members.

The NVMA President presented cash gifts to the top three graduands, including the class representative and assistant, to appreciate and encourage sacrificial leadership. The Keynote Speaker also gave cash awards to deserving students.

The NVMA welcomed the new graduates to the veterinary profession, congratulating them on their achievement. The event highlighted the importance of veterinarians in promoting animal and public health, and the role of the NVMA in supporting its members.
