University of Jos Launches New Bus Service Under SPROUT Initiative
The University of Jos has launched a new bus service, courtesy of the Federal Government's Special Palliative Relief for Universities Transportation (SPROUT) initiative.
The university received two luxurious buses, which will provide transportation services to students and staff between the mini and main campuses.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patricia Manko Lar, led members of the university management and student union leaders on a test run of one of the buses. Prof. Lar expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the kind gesture and encouraged the university community to make the best use of the buses.
To launch the initiative, the Acting Vice-Chancellor approved a 10-day free ride for students and staff, managed by the University's Transport Unit. This move aims to reduce transportation costs within the university and enhance the overall student experience.
The head of Transport, Arch. Amdii A. Amdii, thanked the Acting Vice-Chancellor for her policy direction and emphasized the importance of proper maintenance and long-term preservation of the buses. The university is committed to ensuring the buses are well-maintained and provide reliable service to the community.
