University of Maiduguri Chancellor Appeals to Borno State Government for Support Ahead of Convocation and Golden Jubilee

The Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri and Chairman of the Nasarawa State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Highness Justice Muhammadu Sidi Bage II, has called on the Borno State Government for support in preparation for the institution’s 25th Combined Convocation and 50th Golden Jubilee Anniversary.

The Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri and Chairman of the Nasarawa State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Highness Justice Muhammadu Sidi Bage II, has called on the Borno State Government for support in preparation for the institution’s 25th Combined Convocation and 50th Golden Jubilee Anniversary.

The courtesy visit took place on Wednesday, 26th November 2025, at the Government House, Maiduguri.

Justice Bage was accompanied by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, along with members of the Governing Council and other principal officers of the university.

During the meeting, the Chancellor commended the Borno State Government for its ongoing support toward the growth and development of the University of Maiduguri. He also requested guidance and collaboration to ensure the success of the upcoming milestone celebrations.

In response, the Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, assured the Chancellor and university leadership of the state government’s full support and commitment to the forthcoming convocation and Golden Jubilee events.

Governor Zulum recognized the importance of the celebrations in the history of the university and praised its consistent contributions to national development. He also congratulated the newly appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellors, describing their appointments as well-deserved, while commending the management team, the Chancellor, and the Governing Council for their dedication and service.
