University of Maiduguri Hosts 82nd Inaugural Lecture, Prof. Aji Advocates for Biomass Waste Utilization

The University of Maiduguri recently held its 82nd Inaugural Lecture, featuring Prof. Isuwa Suleiman Aji, a renowned Engineer and Professor of Mechanical Engineering.

The lecture, titled “Transforming Biomass Wastes into Wealth: Innovative Pathway to a Sustainable Industrial Future,” highlighted the potential of biomass waste in driving sustainable industrialization in Nigeria.

The growing demand for bio-composites, driven by rising wood prices, new fibre sources, environmental concerns, and technological advancements, underscores the urgency of transitioning from petroleum-based plastics to environmentally friendly alternatives.

University of Maiduguri's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Laminu Mele, congratulated Prof. Aji and encouraged aspiring scholars to deliver inaugural lectures, reaffirming the university's commitment to sustaining this academic tradition.
