University of Maiduguri Mourns Passing of Legendary Professor Abbagana Shettima

The University of Maiduguri community is in mourning following the passing of Professor Abbagana Shettima, a distinguished scholar and the lone first-class graduate in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology since its establishment in 1975.

Professor Shettima achieved this remarkable distinction in 1986, and his academic brilliance earned him a prominent place in the university's history. He rose to become a Professor of Community Development, inspiring countless students and scholars across the country.

The late professor, a native of Bama, Borno State, had strong ties to Yobe, having completed his secondary education in Nguru. His legacy as a quiet giant in academia will continue to live on, and his contributions to scholarship will be remembered for generations to come.
