University of Maiduguri Vice-Chancellor Visits Shehu of Borno Ahead of 24th Combined Convocation Ceremony

On Monday, October 9th, 2023, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Prof Aliyu Shugaba, led an extraordinary high-powered delegation from the university on a visit to His Royal Highness, the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Umar Garbai Ibn Al Amin Elkanemi CFR at his palace in Maiduguri.

The purpose of this distinguished visit was twofold. Firstly, it aimed to inform the Royal Father about the University's upcoming 24th combined convocation ceremony scheduled for November 17th and 18th, 2023. Secondly, the Vice-Chancellor took the opportunity to convey the University's decision to confer an honorary doctorate degree (Honoris Causa) upon the Shehu of Borno.

In recognition of his invaluable contributions to education and the community, the VC also bestowed upon the Shehu the title of Ambassador-at-Large for the University's forthcoming University Endowment Fund relaunch.
