UNN Physiology Department Celebrates UNIZIK VC, Prof. Anyaehie

Staff of the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC), have expressed pride over the emergence of Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie as the 7th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka.

Staff of the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC), have expressed pride over the emergence of Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie as the 7th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka.

The commendation was made on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, during a courtesy visit led by the Head of Department, Dr. Ifeoma A. Orizu, to the Vice-Chancellor in his office.

Dr. Orizu said the visit was organized to celebrate and congratulate Prof. Anyaehie on his appointment, describing it as a moment of honour for the department and the wider Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. She noted that many staff members turned out in large numbers to reconnect with and honour a former colleague.

She also offered prayers for divine guidance, wisdom, and protection for the Vice-Chancellor as he assumes the responsibilities of his new office.

Prof. Anyaehie, in his response, appreciated the delegation for the visit despite logistical challenges, describing it as a meaningful gesture of solidarity. He acknowledged the demands of his new role, noting that while the workload has been intense, he remains committed to serving the university diligently.

He also reflected on his earlier academic journey, including his previous role as Head of the Department of Physiology at UNEC, describing it as a formative phase in his leadership development.

The delegation included Dr. Adobo P. M. Okeke, Dr. Oluchi Okafor, Dr. Vivian Ifeyinwa N., Chukwu Peace, Enweani Chucks, among others.

The visit concluded with the presentation of a gift to the Vice-Chancellor, alongside prayers for a successful and impactful tenure.
