Speaking at the venue of the event at the weekend, Prof. Bala reiterated the Management’s support towards promotion of academic excellence.
The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabiru Bala, has commissioned the newly relocated Liaison Office of the University’s Distance Learning Centre (DLC) at the Centre for Research and Historical Documentation, Arewa House. The office was relocated from the premises of Kaduna Polytechnic in Kaduna.
Speaking at the venue of the event at the weekend, Prof. Bala reiterated the Management’s support towards promotion of academic excellence.
“I want to put on record that, I have never known anything about this arrangement. This is purely between the Director, Area House and Director, Distance Learning Centre”, he stressed.
The Vice-Chancellor commended this kind of relationship among various units of the University, and called for more similar efforts across the University.
He said, “Instead of going elsewhere we better come to a place that is our own; Arewa House is ABU; thus, students should make use of the facility”.
Prof. Bala expressed satisfaction that, “This place is very conducive for learning”. He, however, cautioned that students should make use of the place responsibly.
He shed light on the effort made by the Director, Arewa House on the efforts he made to renovate and maintain the edifice which made it possible for what we have all come to witness. The Vice-Chancellor also stressed that, DLC would contribute immensely, given the number of applicants in the University which ABU was not able to accommodate.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Director, Distance Learning Centre (DLC), Prof. M.I. Sule, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for attending the commissioning himself, despite his tight schedules; and for his relentless support towards DLC.
Prof. Sule expressed delight that this feat had been achieved, and that it would go a long way in providing opportunity for applicants who wanted to study at ABU, Zaria.
The Director, Centre for Research and Historical Documentation, Arewa House, Dr. Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, was on hand to assist the Vice-Chancellor during the official commissioning and unveiling of the new offices.
