Wesley University Ondo Dismisses Claims of 24-month Salary Arrears and Mismanagement

In response to recent allegations regarding unpaid staff salaries and mismanagement within Wesley University, Ondo, the institution's management has vehemently refuted these claims. The Vice Chancellor, Rt. Rev. Prof. Samuel Sunday Obeka, in a statement, labeled the accusations as baseless and aimed at tarnishing the esteemed reputation of the university.
The allegations surfaced following a publication by Vanguard Newspaper columnist, Owei Lakemfa, titled “A Labourer deserves his wages except in Methodist Church Nigeria”. However, Wesley University's administration has clarified that such assertions are unfounded and lack credibility.
Describing the report as "malicious and fallacious," the Vice Chancellor emphasized the university's commitment to upholding its reputable standards. He highlighted recent international partnerships and collaborations as evidence of Wesley University's dedication to academic excellence.
Furthermore, the management clarified the governance structure of the university, emphasizing its autonomy from the Methodist Church Nigeria. The Vice Chancellor explained that Wesley University operates under the guidance of the National Universities Commission (NUC), with distinct oversight bodies governing its affairs.
Addressing specific concerns raised in the allegations, the Vice Chancellor clarified the university's financial practices, academic programs, and staffing arrangements. He emphasized the institution's adherence to regulatory standards and its dedication to quality education.
