Addressing the students, the Vice Chancellor, Rt Revd Prof Samuel Sunday Obeka, congratulated the matriculants on behalf of the University Management and Senate, describing the ceremony as both timely and significant against the backdrop of Nigeria’s prevailing socio economic and security challenges.

Prof Obeka traced the evolution of the institution, explaining that Wesley University was established about 20 years ago by the Methodist Church Nigeria, initially as a University of Science and Technology. He noted that the scope of the institution was later expanded in response to societal growth and academic demands, leading to its repositioning as a comprehensive university.

He disclosed that when he assumed office in 2022, the University had a student population of fewer than 500, but the number has since grown to over 4,000 students.
