The Federal Controller of Works in Ogun State, Mrs. Oloyede Forosola, embarked on a significant visit to the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), signaling a crucial step towards addressing infrastructural needs in the region. Accompanied by key representatives, Mrs. Forosola's visit on Monday, May 13, 2024, was met with enthusiasm as she engaged with university officials to discuss the urgent rehabilitation of the Five Kilometre road stretching from Camp to FUNAAB Ceremonial Gate.
Upon arrival, Mrs. Forosola was warmly received by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, who, represented by Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), expressed eagerness to collaborate on the vital project. The primary objective of the visit was to assess the road's current condition and explore possibilities for immediate rehabilitation to enhance connectivity and safety for commuters.
In her address, Mrs. Forosola clarified the road's classification as a state-owned "Trunk B" road, dispelling prior assumptions of federal ownership. She outlined the significant financial investment required for the rehabilitation, estimating it to be a multi-billion Naira project. Mrs. Forosola emphasized that such projects exceeding a billion Naira mandate approval from the Federal Executive Council (FEC), indicating potential administrative delays.
Recognizing the complexities involved, Mrs. Forosola proposed collaborative efforts between state and federal entities to streamline the approval process and expedite project implementation. The Vice-Chancellor, in response, assured Mrs. Forosola of FUNAAB's unwavering commitment to cooperate fully and facilitate the successful execution of the road rehabilitation.
The meeting brought together key personnel from FUNAAB's Directorate of Works and Services and the Federal Ministry of Works, underscoring the collective determination to address infrastructural deficits and foster synergy between academic institutions and government agencies.
