59 UNIDEL Students Inducted into Historical Society of Nigeria

The Department of History and International Studies at the University of Delta, Agbor, recently inducted 59 graduating students into the Historical Society of Nigeria (HSN).

The induction ceremony marked a significant milestone for the students, affirming their commitment to academic excellence and professional development in the field of history.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stella Chiemeke, highlighted the importance of history in shaping a collective future and understanding one's identity. She emphasized the university's commitment to producing graduates who are custodians of values, culture, and truth.

Professor Edward Erhagbe delivered an induction lecture, "Relevance Redefined: Exploring Career Opportunities for History Graduates in Today's Competitive Environment." He discussed the empowerment of people through education, employment, and re-orientation, and the challenges faced by history graduates in the job market.

The department presented awards to notable individuals, including Professor Stella Chiemeke, Professor Patricia Mbah, and Hon. Festus Chukwuyem Okoh, among others. Dr. Donald Peterson, one of the awardees, donated ₦1 million to support the department.

The induction ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to the inducted students, marking a new chapter in their academic and professional journey.
