Abdulwahab Muhammad Elected National Chairman of NUBASS Amidst Election Controversy

Abdulwahab Muhammad from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has been declared the National Chairman of the National Union of Bauchi State Students (NUBASS) after a closely contested election.

Muhammad secured 39 votes out of 101 cast by accredited representatives, narrowly defeating Umar Faruk Musa of Federal University, Kashere, who received 37 votes.

The election, which was described as fair and transparent by the NUBASS election committee, has been marred by complaints from some quarters regarding the accreditation of delegates and voting procedures. Despite these grievances, the committee maintained that the outcome reflected the will of the delegates and assured that due process was followed.

In his victory speech, Abdulwahab Muhammad expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and pledged to foster unity, transparency, and progress within the union. He called on his fellow contestants and all Bauchi State students to work together in building a stronger and more inclusive NUBASS. Observers have urged the union to address the complaints amicably to maintain peace and cohesion among members.
