In a bid to promote unity and sportsmanship among secondary school students, the Abia State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has announced the dates for the Dr. Alex Chioma Otti Secondary Schools Unity Games. The event is scheduled to take place from February 1st to 14th, 2024.

The Local Government Area competitions are set to kick off on February 1st, with opening ceremonies planned in each LGA. The actual games will commence on February 2nd and culminate in a grand closing ceremony on February 14th.

Sir Nwaobilor Nwadinma Ananaba, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, highlighted the significance of the initiative, stating, "The Dr. Alex Chioma Otti Secondary Schools Unity Games is a significant initiative aimed at promoting healthy competition, sportsmanship, and team spirit among our young people. We are confident that this event will not only showcase the athletic talents of our students but also foster a sense of unity and belonging within the state."
