Abia House of Assembly Conducts Oversight Visit to Abia State Polytechnic

The Abia State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, conducted an oversight visit to Abia State Polytechnic to assess campus facilities and safety, following a tragic accident involving a pedestrian bridge.

The Abia State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, visited Abia State Polytechnic on Friday to conduct an oversight inspection. The visit, coordinated by the House Committee on Education chaired by Hon. Okoro Uchenna Kalu, was aimed at assessing the polytechnic's facilities and safety measures.

During the visit, the committee inspected various parts of the institution, focusing particularly on a dilapidated pedestrian bridge that recently caused the tragic death of a student. The student was struck by a truck while crossing a major road, emphasizing the urgent need for infrastructure repairs and improved safety measures.

Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Christopher Kalu, led the committee on a comprehensive tour of the campus, including departments, lecture halls, and other key areas. The aim of this inspection was to determine how the state House of Assembly could support the institution's revival and contribute to restoring its former prestige.
