Ahmadu Bello University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, has opened the 2024 Annual National Agricultural Extension Review and Planning Meeting at the National Agricultural Extension and Research Liaison Services (NAERLS), ABU, Zaria.  

In his address, Prof. Bala emphasized the meeting as a vital platform to shape the future of agricultural research and extension in Nigeria. He highlighted the importance of irrigation farming for stability and reaffirmed ABU's commitment to impactful agricultural research addressing farmers' needs.

Prof. Garba Hamidu Sharubutu, Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), represented by Prof. B.Z. Abubakar, stressed proactive measures like advocacy and providing inputs to tackle food security challenges.

Other speakers, including Mr. Ayodele Olawumi from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Prof. Sani Miko, former SG 2000 Nigeria Country Director, called for sustainable strategies to address climate change impacts on agriculture.  

The event featured goodwill messages from institutions like the Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR) and ABU Faculty of Agriculture, alongside exhibitions showcasing agricultural innovations.
