Adamawa State Polytechnic Cracks Down on Serial Cable Thieves

Security personnel at Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola, have apprehended two teenage suspects involved in a string of electrical cable and equipment thefts on campus.

The suspects, 16-year-old Ibrahim Usman and 17-year-old Musa Umar, were caught in the act around 9:00 PM while attempting to steal electrical service cables and science apparatus.

During questioning, the duo confessed to three previous thefts, stealing armoured electrical cables and other materials without being detected. They also revealed that they had been selling the stolen items to a regular buyer in their neighborhood.

The suspects were paraded before the Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Mohammed Dahiru Toungos, and subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation. This recent arrest highlights the institution's renewed commitment to tackling security challenges.

 

Adamawa State Polytechnic's Yola campus has been working to address repeated incidents of theft, contracting security services to the Peace Corps.
