Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Ali Ikwo (AE-FUNAI) and Ikwo Local Government Area (LGA) join forces to establish a joint security team, aiming to enhance safety and combat rising insecurity in the region through community engagement and proactive measures.

In a recent development, Ikwo LGA and AE-FUNAI have resolved to form an inter-security joint team aimed at bolstering security measures within the university premises and the surrounding areas. The announcement was made during a courtesy visit by stakeholders of Ikwo Noyo clan to the Vice-Chancellor of AE-FUNAI, Professor Sunday Elom.

Barrister Sunday Nwankwo, the chairman of Ikwo LGA, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the university management and the local community to ensure the safety and protection of everyone within the vicinity. He highlighted the need for a comprehensive security network to address the prevalent insecurity challenges effectively.

Acknowledging the significance of the partnership, Professor Sunday Elom, the Vice-Chancellor of AE-FUNAI, expressed gratitude to the council chairman and the stakeholders for their proactive approach towards enhancing security and fostering development in the region. He assured the stakeholders of the university management's full support and cooperation in addressing the security concerns.

Additionally, discussions were held regarding the establishment of primary and secondary schools, as well as an inter-community development committee, to further promote education and community development initiatives. The Vice-Chancellor pledged to initiate deliberations on these proposals, underscoring AE-FUNAI's commitment to the holistic development of the host communities.
