Speaking during a visit by the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Ekiti State Council, Babalola emphasized that Nigeria's problems, including rampant inflation and severe hardship, stem from the disruptive influence of military rule on the country's political landscape.

According to Babalola, Nigeria's trajectory towards unity and development was significantly altered when the military seized power on January 15, 1966. He asserted that decisions made during military regimes continue to impact Nigeria's socio-economic fabric today, citing governance failures and economic mismanagement as enduring legacies of past military rulers.
Babalola absolved President Bola Tinubu of responsibility for Nigeria's current economic woes, asserting that these challenges precede Tinubu's tenure. He underscored the role of journalism as a powerful tool to educate and advise political leaders towards steering the country in a positive direction.
