AHAPN UBTH chapter pays courtesy visit to University of Benin Teaching Hospital's Management in commemoration of World Pharmacist Day

The Association of Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN), UBTH Chapter, paid a courteous visit to the Management of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital as part of the activities lined up to celebrate World Pharmacist Day, Myschoolnews report.

Addressing the Chief Medical Director, Dr. (Mrs.) Yovwin Edith O., the Head of the Pharmacy Department, informed the management about the 2023 World Pharmacist Day with the theme "Pharmacy: Strengthening Health Systems." 

She emphasized that, from manufacturing to quality assurance, dispensing, patient counseling, and pharmaceutical care, pharmacists play a pivotal role in healthcare. 

She also highlighted the efforts of UBTH pharmacists in reducing morbidity and mortality rates within the hospital.

Praising the Chief Medical Director, Pharm. Thaddeus Aichiende, Chairman of AHAPN UBTH, expressed gratitude for the hospital's developmental strides, particularly the global standard facelift given to the COPD Pharmacy. He took the opportunity to request an increase in departmental staff strength to enhance healthcare service delivery.

Pharm. Thaddeus emphasized UBTH pharmacists' commitment to forging a robust synergy in delivering excellent healthcare solutions in Sub-Saharan Africa, thereby improving care outcomes, enhancing client satisfaction, and fostering trust.

Congratulating the pharmacists, Chief Medical Director Prof. Darlington Obaseki recognized pharmacy as a noble profession and encouraged them to celebrate their day, designated to honor their profession.

Prof. Obaseki expressed pride in the progress made by the Pharmacy Department under his administration, noting its significant advancement. He commended the pharmacists for their selfless dedication to the healthcare system and reminded them that UBTH Pharmacy Department was the first in Nigeria to implement a drug prescription policy. As such, he encouraged them to continue their strong commitment to research.
