Ajeromi-Ifelodun Lagos Council Enrolls 200 Almajiri Children in Primary Schools, Supports Education Initiatives

The Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area in Lagos State has recently taken a significant step toward securing the future of 200 Almajiri children by enrolling them in primary schools within the community.

The Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area in Lagos State has recently taken a significant step toward securing the future of 200 Almajiri children by enrolling them in primary schools within the community.

Council Chairman, Fatai Ayoola, shared this development during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos. He explained that the council's efforts also extend to enrolling other children who, due to financial difficulties, have been unable to attend school. Many of these children come from single-parent households in the Komokowa Community within the council's jurisdiction.

"We actively visit the community, identify these children, provide them with uniforms, bags, and sandals, and then enroll them in our primary schools," Ayoola stated. He emphasized that the goal is to ensure these children have a brighter and more secure future.

"No one can predict what these kids will achieve in the future. We are also running various programs. For instance, during this summer period, we've organized a summer camp," Ayoola added. He mentioned that the council has allocated N5 million to the summer camp, where children can participate in various sports and recreational activities.

Additionally, Ayoola highlighted the council's commitment to higher education by providing financial support to its indigenes. Each student from Ajeromi-Ifelodun studying in a tertiary institution receives N100,000 per academic session to assist with their education.

On the topic of agriculture, Ayoola stressed the importance of Nigeria fully utilizing its natural resources. He called on the youth and all Nigerians to take an active role in food production, underlining the nation's potential in agriculture.
