AKTH Honours BUK Vice Chancellor Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas

The Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) recently paid tribute to Bayero University's Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, at a special luncheon held on June 19, 2025. The event recognized Professor Abbas's outstanding contributions to both the university and the hospital.

The Chief Medical Director of AKTH, Professor Abdulrahman Abba Sheshe, emphasized the historic and symbiotic relationship between BUK and AKTH, noting that the university laid the foundation for the hospital's existence. Professor Abbas has significantly contributed to AKTH's development and progress over the years, fostering a collaborative environment between the two institutions.

Professor Abbas described the relationship between BUK and AKTH as one of shared goals and mutual growth, assuring that the synergy will continue beyond his administration. The Chairman of AKTH's Governing Board, Chief Augustine Chukwu Umahi, praised Professor Abbas as a visionary leader.

Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas is a renowned Nigerian academic who serves as the 11th Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano. Born on April 22, 1962, in Kano State, Abbas has had a distinguished career in academia, serving in various senior positions at Bayero University, including Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics and Director of the Development Office.

Under his leadership, Bayero University has made significant strides in academic and research excellence, elevating the university's global standing. Professor Abbas's commitment to advancing student support and faculty development has fostered a dynamic and inclusive academic environment.
