The Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) recently paid tribute to Bayero University's Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, at a special luncheon held on June 19, 2025. The event recognized Professor Abbas's outstanding contributions to both the university and the hospital.

The Chief Medical Director of AKTH, Professor Abdulrahman Abba Sheshe, emphasized the historic and symbiotic relationship between BUK and AKTH, noting that the university laid the foundation for the hospital's existence. Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas is a renowned Nigerian academic who serves as the 11th Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano. Born on April 22, 1962, in Kano State, Abbas has had a distinguished career in academia, serving in various senior positions at Bayero University, including Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics and Director of the Development Office.
