The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma (AAU), Prof. Eunice Omonzejie, has urged the Nigerian government, multinational agencies, and other stakeholders to boost investment in education to enhance the global competitiveness of Nigerian graduates.

Prof. Omonzejie made the appeal while receiving the National Leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led by its President, Olushola Oladoja, at the university campus in Ekpoma. She highlighted the urgent need to address challenges across the educational spectrum, from primary to tertiary levels.
Expressing gratitude to the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Vice-Chancellor acknowledged his transformative interventions, which she said have rejuvenated the university and restored hope among staff and students. She also encouraged NANS to support local students’ union governments in advocating for improved learning environments. Prof. Omonzejie assured students of her administration’s open-door policy, stating, “You can be sure that you have a mother in me.”

NANS President Olushola Oladoja acknowledged the historical challenges faced by Ambrose Alli University, attributing them to past government policies. He commended the Edo State Governor’s intervention in alleviating these issues. Oladoja further praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for initiating the NELFund scheme, a zero-interest education fund, urging Nigerian students to leverage the opportunity for their academic development.
The visit underscores the importance of collaboration among university administrators, student leaders, and government agencies to improve the quality of education in Nigeria. Prof. Omonzejie’s call for increased investment and Oladoja’s encouragement for students to utilize the NELFund scheme highlight the collective efforts required to tackle educational challenges and elevate the nation’s academic standards.
