At the ceremony, Akalezi received four prestigious prizes, including the first merit prize for being the best at the professional level of the November diet of 2023. She also received the Akintola Williams Deloitte and Touché Prize for the Best Qualifying Candidate, Past President Dame Onome Joy Adewuyi Prize for the Best Qualifying Female Candidate, and SWAN Prize for the Best Qualifying Female Candidate.
Reflecting on her success, Akalezi attributed it to perseverance, mentorship, and adaptability. Despite initial plans to stagger her exams due to internship commitments, she took all five papers at once upon the encouragement of her mentor, Dr. Ajibade. This decision, coupled with her unwavering commitment and ability to stay focused under pressure, led to her exceptional performance.
Expressing her aspirations, Akalezi shared her desire to take on challenging roles within the accounting profession in the coming years. She aims to gain diverse experience, leverage her adaptability, and contribute significantly to her organization and the industry. Ultimately, she aspires to hold a leadership position where she can influence strategic decisions and mentor others.
Acknowledging her achievement, Prof. Appolos Nwaobia, the head of the Department of Accounting at Babcock University, described Akalezi as a model of commitment, resilience, and focus. He expressed pride in her accomplishments and confidence in her ability to add value to society.
Dr. Ayodeji Ajibade, Akalezi's mentor, praised her hard work and determination, emphasizing that she exceeded expectations by clearing all five papers at once.
