Bauchi Principal, Senior Teacher Demoted for Selling School Property
The Bauchi State Teachers Service Commission has demoted Musa Ahmed, the Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Kirfi, and a Senior Master, Adamu Shehu, following their involvement in the unauthorized sale of school property, according to a statement from the commission’s Information Officer, Dahiru Adamu.
The decision came after a four-man investigative committee, led by the commission’s overseeing Permanent Secretary, Garba Bashe, found both educators guilty of misconduct. The items reportedly sold include 32 scrapped student beds, nine jumbo aluminum pots, and roofing zinc.
The commission subsequently approved the demotion of both officials by one grade level and reassigned them to different schools as classroom teachers.
In addition to the disciplinary action, both men are required to refund a total of ₦597,000, the estimated value of the sold items. The principal, Musa Ahmed, is also mandated to repay ₦72,000, which he owes as unpaid allowances to casual workers at the school.
The Teachers Service Commission affirmed its commitment to work with security agencies to recover the stolen property and enforce accountability within the education sector.
