Bayero University Kano Closes Old Campus Main Gate for Remodeling
Bayero University Kano (BUK) has temporarily closed the main gate of its Old Campus for remodeling, effective March 16, 2025. To minimize disruptions, two alternative gates—Gate 'A' (Rimi Gate) and the gate near the Power House—will be available for entry and exit.

Bayero University Kano (BUK) has announced the temporary closure of the main gate at its Old Campus to facilitate remodeling efforts aimed at improving infrastructure and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the institution. The closure took effect from Sunday, March 16, 2025.
In a special bulletin issued by the university, the management outlined alternative entry and exit arrangements to minimize disruptions for staff, students, and visitors. Two alternative gates will be accessible during the remodeling period:
-
Gate 'A' (Rimi Gate) along Janbulo side will be open daily from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
-
The gate near the Power House, adjacent to the pedestrian bridge opposite Pyramid Supermarket, will also be available for entry and exit.
The university management has urged all members of the university community to take note of the temporary arrangement and plan their movements accordingly.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work to improve the university’s facilities,” stated the bulletin, signed by Lamara Garba, Deputy Registrar and Head of Public Affairs Directorate, on behalf of the Registrar.
The remodeling project is expected to be completed as soon as possible, and further updates will be communicated once the main gate is reopened.
