Bayero University Kano Students' Union Government (SUG) Issues Suspension Notice to Executive Officers

In a significant development, the Students' Representative Assembly (SRA) of Bayero University Kano, during its 6th Plenary Sitting on the 16th day of January 2024, has announced the suspension of key Executive Officers of the Students' Union Government (SUG-BUK). The suspension takes immediate effect and lasts for two consecutive days.

Suspended Executive Officers:

The President

The Vice President

The Secretary General

The Social Director

The Financial Secretary

The suspension was unanimously decided upon due to non-compliance with the provisions of Section 11 [(1) (c and r)] of the Students Union Constitution Bayero University Kano 2021. Specific charges include unconstitutional acts and grave violations of the Students Union Constitution by the President, Vice President, Secretary General, Social Director, and Financial Secretary.

According to the notification, the affected officers are required, within three (3) hours from the release of the notice, to return all Union properties, including their office keys, to the Speaker of the 24th S.R.A. Furthermore, they are prohibited from representing themselves as Executive Officers of the Union and from carrying out any functions associated with the executive roles.

In line with Section 12 (2) of the Students Union Constitution Bayero University Kano 2021, the Speaker of the Students' Representative Assembly will assume the role of Chief Executive of the Union with immediate effect.
