Borno Police Commissioner Pays Courtesy Visit to VC
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, received the Borno State Commissioner of Police, CP Nazir Abdulmajid, alongside a delegation of senior police officers, on a courtesy visit on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
The meeting was held in the Vice-Chancellor’s office at the Muhammadu Buhari Senate Building.
During the visit, CP Abdulmajid emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the state police command and the university. He commended the University for its role in fostering peace and academic progress, and underscored the collective responsibility of all citizens in maintaining security. The Commissioner also urged members of the university community to remain security-conscious at all times.
A key focus of the meeting was the growing concern around cybersecurity and cyber terrorism. CP Abdulmajid appealed to the university to take active steps in addressing these threats, which he identified as one of the primary reasons for the visit.
In response, Professor Mele expressed gratitude for the Commissioner’s visit and assured him of the university's full support in promoting safety on campus. He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to collaborating with security agencies through expert-led research in forensic sciences, academic engagement, and targeted workshops on cyber threats.
The Vice-Chancellor concluded by congratulating CP Abdulmajid on his recent appointment and reiterated the University’s readiness to contribute toward a secure and peaceful learning environment.
