BUK's WANDA Scholars Undergo Personal Development Training
The Women Advancing Nutrition Dietetics and Agriculture (WANDA) program organized a two-day mentorship and personal development training for its scholars at BUK's Old Campus. LT
The training aimed to enhance the academic and personal growth of 24 female indigent students studying Nutrition and Dietetics and Food Science and Technology at Bayero University, Kano.
Dr. Abdulkadir Isma'il, Coordinator of the WANDA Scholarship Project, welcomed the scholars and commended the lead presenter for his commitment. He emphasized the importance of understanding the origin of their food and making informed choices. Dr. Isma'il announced plans to extend the WANDA scholarship to other female students for a year and urged the scholars to be good ambassadors, reminding them that academic excellence, good character, and community service are crucial to remaining in the program.
Muhammad Salisu Kabir, a WANDA mentor from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, highlighted the training's focus on personal development and leadership skills. He defined personal development as self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and intentional habits, emphasizing the importance of discipline, decision-making, and goal-achievement.
The training aimed to equip WANDA scholars with essential life skills, empowering them to excel academically and personally.
