This week, the Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, fnipr, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

This week, the Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, fnipr, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

Prof. Omenugha, recently confirmed as the substantive Vice Chancellor after serving 19 months in an acting capacity, said the visit was intended to formally introduce her leadership to the NUC and to enhance collaboration between the University and the Commission. She emphasized her administration’s focus on academic excellence, innovation, and institutional transformation, aligning with COOU’s vision of being the Now University and the University of the Future.

In his remarks, Prof. Ribadu congratulated Prof. Omenugha on her confirmation and wished her success in office. He expressed confidence that her leadership would reposition COOU to achieve greater impact, particularly in research, technology, and manpower development to address Nigeria’s evolving educational and developmental needs.

The meeting also allowed both leaders to exchange insights on the challenges and opportunities within the Nigerian university system. Prof. Omenugha briefed the NUC on COOU’s progress in digital transformation, international collaborations, and student-centered reforms, while seeking support for accreditation, infrastructure development, and quality assurance.
