CPN, NCS Celebrate ABU’s Former Vice-Chancellor Prof. Iya Abubakar at 90

The Computer Professionals (Registration Council) of Nigeria (CPN) and the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) are set to honor Professor Iya Abubakar, former Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, as he marks his 90th birthday on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
Professor Abubakar, who served as the second indigenous Vice-Chancellor of ABU from 1975 to 1978, became Vice-Chancellor of the university at just 41. Renowned for his contributions to mathematics and academia, his tenure at ABU was marked by remarkable advancements in teaching, research, and community service.

The Vice-Chancellor of ABU, Professor Kabiru Bala, joined other Nigerians in felicitating with the esteemed academic, describing him as a distinguished scholar and leader. On behalf of the university’s management, staff, and students, Professor Bala congratulated Professor Abubakar and wished him many happy returns.
