Crescent University Wins Spirit of the Competition Award at 2026 IBA–ICC Moot Competition in The Hague

Crescent University, Abeokuta, has secured the Spirit of the Competition Award at the 2026 International Bar Association–International Criminal Court (IBA–ICC) Moot Competition held in The Hague, Netherlands.

Crescent University, Abeokuta, has secured the Spirit of the Competition Award at the 2026 International Bar Association–International Criminal Court (IBA–ICC) Moot Competition held in The Hague, Netherlands.

The team, representing the institution’s Bola Ajibola College of Law (BACOLAW), included Justus Adeyemi, Fareedah Akinsola, Karamat Lawal, Hadiqah Orisadare and Muhammadgazaal Abudu. They were accompanied and coached by Dr Mujeeb Imran.

The award recognises teams that demonstrate outstanding commitment and fully embody the core values of the moot competition, particularly professionalism, collaboration, and engagement with international legal discourse.

According to the organisers, the Crescent University team stood out for its conduct and engagement throughout the competition. In announcing the award, the IBA representative noted that the team exemplified “the powers of the Moot in bringing passionate students from around the world together and clearly shows that the goal of coming together through our shared commitment to international law is the future in these uncertain times.”

The achievement adds to Crescent University’s growing reputation in international moot competitions, following a strong performance by BACOLAW undergraduates at the 2025 edition of the same competition.

Reacting to the development, the Proprietor and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prince Ma’ruf Adesegun Ajibola, commended the students and their lecturer-in-charge for representing the institution with distinction. He attributed the success to the university’s sustained investment in quality human and material resources.
