CUSTECH Management Confident Ahead of Medical and Dental Council Resources Verification Visit
The Management team of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, led by the Vice Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Asipita Salawu, on Monday 25th August, 2025, undertook a strategic visit to the CUSTECH Teaching Hospital, Okene.
The visit was to assess the facility's state of readiness for the crucial Resources Verification exercise by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), scheduled for Thursday and Friday this week.
The high-level delegation was received by the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Teaching Hospital, Dr. Shuaibu Stephen Babatunde, and his management team. The visit commenced with a meeting at the hospital’s conference hall, where Prof. Salawu commended the existing synergy between the university and its teaching hospital.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor praised Dr. Shaibu and his team for their dedication and collaborative spirit. He reiterated the university's commitment to realizing the dream of the former Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Yahaya Bello, to see CUSTECH produce its first set of medical graduates.
"The State Governor, His Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo, is also deeply committed to this vision and is ensuring we secure full accreditation for our medical programmes," Prof. Salawu stated. "Our pioneer 100-level students have successfully completed their first year and will soon commence practical sessions here. It is imperative that everything they need is in place."
In his response, the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Shuaibu Stephen Babatunde, expressed his appreciation to the VC and the entire CUSTECH management for the visit and their continuous support. He assured them of the teaching hospital's commitment to maintaining a robust collaboration with the university to ensure the success of the upcoming accreditation and all future endeavours.
