Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU), has formalized a partnership with the University of The Bahamas through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing international exchange opportunities.

The agreement, signed today in Abraka, marks a step forward in DELSU’s drive for global collaboration and provides a platform for both students and staff to participate in study exchanges.

Professor Andy Egwunyenga, DELSU’s Vice Chancellor, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, emphasizing the university's commitment to expanding its global footprint and providing meaningful international exposure for its academic community. The MoU promises tuition waivers and travel grants for DELSU students visiting the University of The Bahamas, further enabling their participation.

 

Representing the University of The Bahamas, Dr. Abdul Knowles, Executive Director of Global Studies and Programmes, highlighted the role DELSU’s presentation at the recent International Partners’ Week in Ghana played in inspiring the collaboration. He noted that the partnership, marking The Bahamas' Golden Jubilee year, will support regular academic exchanges, virtual lectures, and collaborative research between the two institutions.

The event included discussions among senior officials from both universities on strategies for a sustainable partnership and concluded with the formal signing of the MoU. The collaboration is anticipated to facilitate enriched learning experiences and strengthen academic ties between Nigeria and The Bahamas.
