Delta State Government Attributes Industrial Harmony to Better Pay and Well-Funded Academic Environment

The Delta State Government has revealed that lecturers in state-owned tertiary institutions do not go on strike due to better pay and a well-funded academic environment.

According to the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, the commitment of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori's administration to staff welfare and massive investments in educational infrastructure and programme accreditation has ensured industrial harmony .

The governor has prioritized infrastructure funding, including construction and commissioning of key facilities at Dennis Osadebey University, Southern Delta University Ozoro, and Delta State University Abraka.

Over 600 academic and non-academic staff have been employed across tertiary institutions in just two years.

The government has supported the development of a fuel-powered light generator prototype by lecturers and students at Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, with plans to improve and mass-produce the invention .
